STACKS:SPACE!

Stacks:Space is a space-themed base builder card game with rogue-like elements. Buy booster packs to get new cards, discover craft recipes by stacking cards together, create structures, manufacture drones and droids, defend your base from enemies, visit distant planets, and more!

  • Modding support

Combat

Both ranged and melee combat modes are supported (no combat box!). Melee units will move towards the enemy as soon as they see it. Drag your card next to an enemy card (do not stack them!), and you'll see them punching each other. Ranged units will shoot their projectiles immediately.

  • Stacked cards - the ones doing crafts - do not engage in combat, but could be attacked by an enemy card.
  • Some enemies prefer to attack resource cards instead.

Modding support

Stacks:Space is moddable! The built-in mod management interface allows near-infinite extension of a game. With just a tiny bit of JSON knowledge, it is possible to create and add new cards, recipes, scenarios, locations, and even completely new games. This game is so moddable that it already includes Stacks:Village, a fantasy village sim, as a mod - accessible via the top-right corner of the starting screen. See this youtube video for gameplay details. The comprehensive modding manual is a work in progress, please stay tuned.

Developer Notes

  • If you like this game, please don't hesitate to leave a comment and/or recommend this game to your friends!
  • This game is in active development and may contain bugs and unexpected glitches. Please report issues to StacksEngine@gmail.com
  • The Android version (.apk) of the game works best with tablet displays of 10" or more. If you are interested in the Android version only, get it from the Google Play Store!

HINT

If Sci-Fi is not your thing, please try the built-in "Stacks:Village" bonus game (see the "switch game" button at the top-right corner!) - a fantasy village setting is much more intuitive to new players.

This was interesting. I played for a few hours but never quite felt like I was getting the hang of what I was supposed to be doing. It feels ambitious for the game's size (I was surprised when I realized I could essentially do quests in entirely different locations!), but I always felt I was meant be doing something more—exploring? Killing more monsters? More research? Figuring out how to use all those random robot arms the spacedog wanted me to build for some reason? Using my repaired space shuttle and actually going to the temporary locations it suggested and somehow not dying once I was there?

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate!

Right now I am working on a major update for Stacks:Space, that will improve mid- and late-game phases. There will be a map of locations, like in Stacks:Jungle, spaceships and space battles (dedicated spaceship-only maps), bionic implants for astronauts/cyborgs, hardware upgrades for bots, factions you can side with (androids/empire/pirates), and more quests! Not dying included - dangerous boosters and locations will have proper labels/color marks.

Can’t promise the exact date yet, as I am working solo and my day job is quite exhausting, but it should be ready sometime in early 2024. I hope you will enjoy it :)

This is really fun, thanks for the really creative take on a solitaire card game experience. :)

the Android version of this doesn't appear to be working (using a Pixel 6)

Hmm... Looks like a broken upload. I've uploaded a new version of APK which should also support the newest devices - please try now? (please uninstall the old app!)

Well, that part of a Dial has something to do with the INFER-0 and biomass ;)

(if you already used that biomass, bring some from your reserves, and see if it can be combined into something)
